Urjo Kareda, Artistic Director, 1982-2001
Central to Tarragon's work has been its Playwrights Unit, begun by Kareda in 1982 to provide a practical laboratory for playwrights to develop new work and enhance their craft. Over the years both established and unproduced writers have taken part in the program, and its distinguished alumni include John Krizanc, Brad Fraser, Atom Egoyan, Don Hannah, John Mighton, Joan Macleod, Colleen Murphy, Daniel MacIvor, Dave Carley, Jason Sherman, Michael Redhill, Jonathan Wilson, Michael Healey, Susan Coyne and Florence Gibson.
