The Working Boys' Home

The Working Boys' Home was originally established in 1867 as the "Newsboys' Home". Young boys living on the streets could earn money selling newspapers. Many of them were drawn into criminal activities and were labelled juvenile delinquents. Some of the boys may have preferred the freedom of street life to the work that was arranged for them through the Home.
