Nightwood Theatre, Canada's oldest professional women's theatre company, is noted for its plays written and directed by women of different racial, national, sexual and social backgrounds. Teresa Przybylski, who teaches stage design at York University, is the recipient of five Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

The library's stage design collection includes both set and costume drawings for theatre, dance, opera, musical theatre, film and television. There are over 3,000 original designs for Canadian productions in this collection.
