Les Promenade de Paris

title page

One hundred and thirty six plates including engravings and chromolithographs illustrate this two volume set by Adolphe Alphand, who was responsible for the redesign of Paris in the mid nineteenth-century, and brought the development of the Paris' famous park to fruition. In addition to the twenty-two chromolithographs of ornamental plants, the books include plates and engravings of the design schemes initiated by Alphand. The library owns many lavishly illustrated books that highlight the rich contribution of publishers, artists and designers to the book arts.
